Avenue of Excellence in conjunction with Cherades Youth Theater Project presents: May I Have This Dance

A wonderfully funny yet powerful musical about fathers, daughters and a dance.

A musical production, based on the children’s book “A Night on the Red Carpet” by Rose Hedgemond, is an artistic creation focusing on the importance of the father-daughter relationship, and how time is truly more valuable than riches. The musical production will portray the main character "Hannah" as a spirited young girl who truly only desires to spend time with her father, who seemingly is always busy with work. And now, Hannah wants to attend the annual dance; however, Hannah is forced into a situation that may make it impossible for her to attend. The audience will experience the love and power of the father-daughter relationship that defies the odds. From start to finish the musical production "May I Have This Dance" will leave the audience on the edge of their seats, both laughing and crying, this is a one of a kind production to attend. After all, no matter what language you say "I Love You" in, it still means the same.

One@SRT: The Vintage Classic Experience Saturday May 1 2021 at 8:00 PM

Sandrell Rivers Theater
× Fantasy Theatre Factory (FTF) at the Sandrell Rivers Theater (SRT) presents the ONE@SRT series. This program was developed to provide a space dedicated to the staging and sharing of one-person shows. This initiative is part of FTF’s plan to safely present cultural entertainment.

Allen Michael curates a selection of Latin American classical guitar music performed for the first time on the electric guitar. Allen's storytelling connects his audience to the finest music of Brazil, Cuba, Argentina and more, creating a unique concert that touches the mind, heart and soul. His interpretations on the electric guitar connect with a wide audience and maintain the highest interpretive standards of his classical training. The concert features composers such as Villa-Lobos, Barrios, Piazzolla, Brouwer and J.S. Bach, expanding the capacity of the electric guitar to reinterpret this classic music for modern audiences. With his descriptive visualizations and relatable narratives for each piece, Allen's storytelling is an integral part of this musical experience that audiences have described as "moving," "meditative" and "lyrical."

This Stage-To-Screen performance will premiere at the Sandrell Rivers Theater while simultaneously simulcasting it on Facebook & YouTube.

Random Questions with Larry Fields Tuesday May 4 2021 at 8:00 PM

Sandrell Rivers Theater
× Random Questions with Larry Fields is FTF’s newest virtual program. Just as the title suggests the show is a fun, off-the-wall take on a talk show based around a series of rapid-fire random questions. Some of the questions are ridiculously off-the-wall (if you were a disease which one would you be?), some are like a Rorschach test (how old do you want to become?) others are designed for long-form answers (Tell us about a time you made a fool of yourself)—but they are all designed to bring out the fun side of our guests and to highlight their unique personalities through humor. The interview is in many ways like an improv game—it works best when the participants go with it (the “yes, and” approach), no matter how silly or vague the questions may be. For instance, if a question is vague, it works best for the guest to interpret it how they choose to interpret it, likewise, if a binary choice question is asked and both answers are terrible, it’s more fun for the guest to pick one choice than to say “none of them.” In that same spirit, all answers can be expounded upon at the guest’s whim—any question that prompts an anecdote is welcome—The show is fun and light. The questions are truly randomly selected before each show from a list of more than 220 random questions, ensuring that each night’s show is truly unique. The show is 30 minutes long and is broadcast live on Facebook and YouTube via remote interview (Zoom). Guests are all FTF alumni—both past and present, featuring performers, directors, designers, etc.—all the kinds of people who make FTF possible. This show is our way of celebrating our great and talented artists both on stage and off—and it’s a gig in the pandemic!
