The Moth StorySLAM is a community-focused, open-mic storytelling competition in which anyone can share a five-minute story on the night‘s theme. The MOTH hosts live storytelling events in cities around the world, and Fantasy Theatre Factory is thrilled to welcome The Miami MOTH to it's StorySLAM home at the beautiful Sandrell River's Theater!

This night's theme is UNTOLD BEAUTY.

Prepare a five-minute story about the unexpectedly stunning or the unpredictably gorgeous. Sidestepping the standards or resetting them completely. The rose is beautiful, but have you considered the elegance of the thorn? Embracing your entire self: laugh lines, scars, stretch marks, and all. The quiet celebration of feeling seen in the culture or the loud act of changing the way the culture sees you. Skin-deep or radiating from within, it’s in the eye of the beholder.

This StorySLAM is presented by Vaseline, SheaMoisture, and Dove.

Brazilian Voices, the acclaimed female vocal group, presents AMAZONAS: The Rhythm of Nature. The performance will portray the strengths and threats of the Amazon Rainforest. Through music, engagement with the audience, and screen images by the Brazilian artist Ernesto Kunde, the group will spread awareness of the importance of the Amazon rainforest, the Everglades, and the planet's ecosystem. The program includes a visual arts component with the participation of two Brazilian artists residing in Miami. Clara Piquet will exhibit her paintings at the gallery lobby, which will include themes on Brazilian indigenous communities and the environment. Ernesto Kunde, a visionary artist renowned for his transformative prowess, skillfully captures dynamic landscapes on canvas, wood, and aluminum. Beyond aesthetics, Kunde's mission extends deeper—he aspires to awaken consciousness about evolving environments.

Don’t be afraid! LITTLE MONSTER TALES is the "trick" to make reading a "treat!" Fantasy Theatre Factory presents delightfully funny stories from children’s books about monsters,children and other squiggly creatures. We bring these stories to life on stage. The show combines reading,literature, comedy, puppets, music -even a headless butler who can juggle! The show tickles your funny bone and sends everyone running to the library for more books by the same authors! Great FUN!

Children 12 and under are encouraged to wear costumes. We will have a trick or treat kiosk with candy available.
