Guided by educator and playwright Ivan R. Lopez, these plays were developed as part of City Theatre’s HOMEGROWN Playwright Development Program. After the reading, audiences are invited to celebrate and discuss the work with the HOMEGROWN playwrights in the theater lobby.

Japanese Dance Butoh Workshop is an event where you discover new movements and create your own dance while experiencing Japanese Avant-garde dance theater Butoh!
Pinar Sinka, a Butoh artist of the Tokyo Space Dance Company and founder of PIArtButoh, offers participants the opportunity to learn both the practical and theoretical aspects of Japanese Avant-Garde Dance Butoh. In this workshop, participants will gain knowledge about the philosophy, aesthetics, and methodology of Butoh, while experiencing the practices of classical Butoh with the HIJIKATA METHOD and Post-Butoh with SPACE DANCE. Moreover, they will experience the relaxing, warming, and breathing excercises of Butoh, as well as slow somatic techniques that focus on building a relationship between the mind, body, space and increasing body awareness.
Come join us on this journey through the fascinating world of movement!

Following the talk, we will watch Butoh master Yoshito Ohno’s A way of Life - Flower & Bird Butoh film, that will both provoke thought and evoke emotions!
