City Theatre presents the HOMEGROWN Play Reading Series Excerpts from four new plays by Miami's best emerging playwrights

Saturday, September 28 at 7:00 pm

Run time: 90 minutes

HOMEGROWN playwrights BK King, Maleeha Naseer, Nerissa Street, and Brandon Urrutia will present excerpts from their new full-length plays. Guided by educator and playwright Ivan R. Lopez, these plays were developed as part of City Theatre’s HOMEGROWN Playwright Development Program. After the reading, audiences are invited to celebrate and discuss the work with the HOMEGROWN playwrights in the theater lobby.

Presented as part of City Theatre's HOMEGROWN Playwright Development Program, this initiative is designed to nurture, elevate, and promote writers from historically marginalized communities. It provides the time, tools, and training needed to create their own body of work, aiming to diversify our professional playwright community in Miami and beyond. A cohort of playwrights engages in creative instruction and professional development. You are invited to react to the new works and provide feedback as part of the play development process. To learn more about the program, please visit www.citytheatre.com/homegrown.

Support for HOMEGROWN is provided by TD Charitable Fund and the Coral Gables Community Foundation's Tristarr Lifelong Learning Fund. This program is also made possible with the generous support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor, and the Board of County Commissioners.
