Presented by FTF and New Cannon Chamber Collective, Sacred Fire explores a range of Western classical music by composers of African descent by merging engaging visual elements and sound. It is a chronological musical journey from Afro-British to Afro-Brazilian music, narrated with poetic prose and accompanied with elements of movement (ballet) and visual art. The program will culminate in an audience talk-back with the artists and FTF CEO/Executive Artistic Director Larry Fields. Produced by Portia Dunkley (Double Bass), directed by Angel Refuse (Voice, Baritone) and featuring: Artist/Activist -Marielle Plaisir; Poet- Dachondra “Dae” Cason; Ballet Dancers-Emily Ricca and Isaiah Gonzalez; and musicians: Victoria Joseph (Violin), Lakeisha Firth (Violin), Mario Rivera (Viola), Benjamin Bush (Cello), Grace Bush (Violin), Crystal Sawyer (Harp)
